 JORGE EDUARDO CALDERON OTAIZA

He was a student at the University of Chile in Temuco (700km south of Santiago). He complemented his studies with a job as a salesman. He was single and lived with his parents.

Jorge was arrested from his house the 30th September 1973 by Carabineros (Chilean police). His parents were told that he was wanted just to have a short conversation with Lieutenant Morales and that he would be back soon. When he did not return his parents went to the police station but were told that he was requested by another police body and that he would be freed the next day.

However, when they returned the following day there were told again that this time the Air Force Intelligence Service had requested him. Time went by and there was no news from their son. The only news they received some time later was from other prisoners who survived detention and torture. The sad reports were that Jorge was very ill while in detention.

Since then his parents never heard any news about their son. As in all cases his arrest was denied everywhere they enquired.
